Take off the mask

Have you ever caught yourself not being yourself? I have. Its happened to me as a young person and even as an adult. I think sometimes it’s easier to pretend to be someone you’re not. When we begin to face ourselves and truly look within ourselves, we are only left with who we really are. Many times it’s not pretty. And instead of dealing with some stuff, we rather bury it and put on a mask. Sometimes we wear a different kind of mask for different events. Depending on where we are going. You see, God intends for us to live a good life and he wants us to be our best selves! Not a copycat. He made each and every one of us unique and special for a special purpose. When we have all those different masks on, it’s really hard for God to get through. He is a gentleman and will only go where He is wanted. Many times, we cry out and we ask God for help. Of course, he wants to help us. He begins with helping with the outer situations and starts providing where provision is needed or he will heal where there is a need for physical healing but what I see is when God begins to work inside and wants us to make a change, we back off. We begin to tell God, “nope don’t go there God, you went a little too far” God starts squeezing certain things so our characters can get better, So our attitudes improve and so we can be more like Jesus. He begins to try to remove that mask that we had been wearing for years. All because he just wants to work on the inside of us. My friend, when you have layers upon layers of masks on, God can only do so much. I promise you that when you allow Him to work and allow Him to begin to remove all those layers, you will begin to be your best version of yourself. It will be painful. It’s like ripping a band-aid off. It’s painful but necessary for the wound to breath and does its final healing. Let God remove the mask so He can see you for who you really are, allow Him to work in your heart. Allow Him to remove the layers of hurt and pain and disappointment. In the end, it is worth it.
