What is stewardship

What is stewardship? So many definitions but this one explained it pretty well. It is the conducting, supervising, or managing of something; especially: the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care”. So taking that into consideration, we need to take a close look at what we have. The things that have been given to us, our responsibilities and truly ask the question “Am I stewarding this properly”?  Many times we get so caught up in wanting more.

For example:

We want to make more money, yet we aren’t even stewarding the money we do have now.

We want a promotion at work yet we can’t even get there on time.

We want more children yet we can’t even take care of the ones we have right now and the list can go on and on. Sounds harsh, I know. But it is the truth. The Bible says in:

Luke 16:10  (NLT)  10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

This is so clear! God expects us to be good stewards of what he’s paced in our hands NOW! Not later when we have more. He places things in our hands. He entrusts us with our jobs, our kids, our homes, businesses, and ministries.  And he expects for us to take very good care of it. We must learn to be faithful with what we have right now and I can assure you when the time is right, God will bring you to much more larger places in life. He will bless you and prosper you as his word says. But we cannot expect to step into bigger places if we cannot handle where we are now.

Work out what you have now. Be faithful in the little bit Gods placed in your surrounding and do it with joy! Let’s learn to be good stewards of what we already have
